Department of Agricultural economics and extension
About:
Agricultural Economics and Extension Department is one of the oldest and important departments of Kabul University. The main purpose of this department is to provide students with professional (theoretical and practical) education in the field of agricultural economics and extension, so that they can assist to identify, prioritize, and solve agricultural related problems, manage production inputs and natural resources, ensure food security, improve socio-economic situation of farmers and help in increasing rural and national economy.
Learning objectives:
- To provide theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to the students in the field of agricultural and resource economics, agribusiness/farm management, project management, extension education, agricultural marketing, farmers organization and rural development that meets the market demand;
- To carryout scientific research for solving socio-economic problems, enriching science, promoting agricultural development, and providing inputs for policy making; and
- To take active part in the process of economic development through provision of various advisory services and partnership in the implementation of development projects.
Vision:
To be established as a leading institution of education, research, and development in the discipline of agricultural economics and extension at national, regional and international levels.
Mission:
Producing qualified professionals at B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels in the discipline of agricultural economics and extension, conducting scientific research to help science and provide inputs for policy making, and participating in the process of economic development.
Laboratory and Equipment:
This department has a laboratory which is relatively
equipped with basic equipment, necessary computers, and software. The equipment is used by professors and students to learn and teach calculation and accounting subjects and computer programs, analyze data, and write research reports.
