Teaching and Students Evaluation Methods

Teaching methods:

The faculty of agriculture in cooperation with the talent and skilled professors strives to provide specialists and professional personalities to the community through standard teaching, scientific researches, stable agriculture services, social services and modern education. The aim is to make university especially agriculture faculty as a reliable national and international academic center. Therefore, to achieve these goals it requires the lecturers to consider below points while teaching students:

1. Theoretical teaching in class

2. Practical works in laboratories in collaboration with technology staff

3. Scientific researches in research’s farm and field

Most of the subjects of agriculture faculty have three credits which two of them are taught in theory, while one is being taught in laboratory and in the field practically. Following is the lecturers’ teaching methods for each subject:

  • Lecture: All lectures are provided in PowerPoint format, using markers and boards.
  • Discussion: Lectures are always accompanied by discussion between students and teachers and it is necessary for students to participate in the lecture in order to achieve the student-centered process.
  • Group work: Students in the lecture series are divided into different groups to perform group work.
  • Previous lessons: The previous lessons are reviewed before beginning of the new lecture.
  • Answers to questions: At the end of the lecture, students' questions are answered for 5 to 10 minutes.

As mentioned above there is a practical part of credit for the subjects which are taught by professors and laboratory technicians in the laboratory and research form.

All eight departments of agriculture faculty in 7th and 8th semesters have one subject that is called “research project” and each student is obliged to implement it. As its name indicate, the research project being conducted in the field (research farm، by seeking help from farmers in the capital and provinces) and its report in statistical and analyzed frame is prepared.

Evaluation methods:

Students in this faculty are usually assessed as follows that each assessment has score as well.

  • Test in class (2 to 4 times)
  • Semester’s midterm exam
