Current situation
Communication and Journalism School is one of the oldest Schools of Kabul University. It has three undergraduate departments; Department of Journalism, Department of Public Relations and Department of Communication Studies. This school has an independent building on three floors, where there are classrooms, administrative offices, laboratories, conference rooms and professors' offices.
In the Communication and Journalism School, a total of 24 professors with the academic degrees of Doctor and Master and academic ranks from Assistance, to Associate and full Professor are teaching. This school hosts ۷۶۶ both male and female students in three departments. Each department has its own unique curriculum. It is worth mentioning that in 2023 the Ministry of Higher Education initiated curriculum revision process under “cluster revision) where all three departments’ The Current Status.

The master's program "Mass Communication" of the Communication and Journalism School in the framework of the Journalism Department is going to start at last quarter of 2023 (Year 1402) for the first time. This program accepts thirty eligible candidates (volunteers, professors and administrative employees of Kabul University and the Ministry of Higher Education will enjoy the program). This university also publishes a scientific journal.
This university has three active laboratories; Voice of Kabul University’s Radio Studio, educational studio for television, and a printing house where a technician is working in each laboratory and they work as a guide for the students. In these laboratories, based on the division of time, practical works of related subjects are implemented. Voice of Kabul University, a radio station which has an official broadcast license and broadcasts daily for three hours on FM 107.6.
There is a well-equipped library in the Communication and Journalism School, which has nearly two thousand books in Dari, Pashto and English languages.
The Communication and Journalism School annually signs cooperation agreements with media organizations. Based on these agreements, students are admitted to cooperate with practical work and attend monograph writing in these institutions.
