Statistics and Econometrics Department

a. Introduction

Statistics and Econometrics Department was established in 1973. In 1986 this department was named Statistics and Demography and was taught by 7 internal and 1 external teacher which later changed to Statistics and Computer Department in 1995. In new curriculum this department is registered with the name of Statistics and Econometrics Department.

Vision

Statistics and Econometrics Department is committed to providing quality education, academic research facilities, statistics and econometrics related skills and population studies and to have sound cooperative relations with the international organizations around the world.

Mission

Statistics Department as the only department providing statistics lessons and relevant mathematics in both shifts (Day/Night) is committed to:

  • Providing statistical and mathematical education in the field of economy and management.
  • Providing quality education and contemporary skills in the field of demography and its role in the economic and social development of the country.
  • Providing sound and secure environment for study and practice.
  • Active participation of the lecturers and students to enrich the public-benefit activities through research services, consultations, learning programs and other voluntary activities.

Main Objectives of the Department

Expanding statistics and econometrics knowledge to be used in economy and management is the main goal of this department. At the end of the educational session, students must be able to:

1. Acquiring knowledge: Statistics, Econometrics, Population Studies, and Economy and Management

2. Managing ability, Summarization, providing and inferring official numbers

3. Modeling

4. Using professional software

c. Memorandum of Understanding

d. Laboratory and learning Equipment
