PhD Degree Program of Farsi-Dari
During the reign of Mohammad Zahir Shah and the subsequent reign of Mohammad Daviod Khan, the Farsi-Dari Department was one of the richest departments of the Faculty of Literature at Kabul University in terms of having scientific and experienced staff. In those years, the best professors, who were unique not only in Afghanistan but also in the region, taught in this department. King of Ooets Abdul Haq Bitab, Professor Khalilullah Khalili, Allama Abdul Hai Habibi, Professor Gholam Hassan Mujadidi, Mohammad Haidar Jubal have been among the leading instructors of the Farsi-Dari Department. In the second generation, the professors of Dari Department were Johan Javid, Homayoun, Shahrestani, Rahim Elham, Neghat Saeedi, and others. Unfortunately, some of them are not among us today, but with the creation of precious scientific and literary works. They are still present in the spiritual and cultural world of our society. Today, the society of Afghanistan and even the region is familiar with the letters of the third generation of professors of the Farsi-Dari Department. They are now known as the most prolific professors and scientists in the country, and thank God a number of them are still alive, and among them Dr. Mohammad Hussein Yamin, Dr. Abdul Qayum Qayum, Dr. Mohammad Afzal Benwal, Dr. Abdul Khaleq Wafaee, Dr. Asadullah Habib, Dr. Latif Nazemi, and others. In terms of teaching the new generation of this homeland from undergraduate to doctorate and creating valuable scientific and literary works in the archives of the ancient culture of the country have rendered valuable services and from a high position not only in the Farsi-Dari department but also among the teachers and educators of Afghanistan.
In the following years, 9 scholars, all of whom were among the professors of the Farsi-Dari Department and were included in the doctoral program in 2013, six of them successfully completed the final defense of their doctoral dissertations. Although these students can be considered as accurate in the first year of the doctoral program in the country, but it is worth mentioning that in the time of Mohammad Daud Khan, master's and even doctoral programs for students in the Farsi-Dari Department of Literature have been indirectly active because Sami Sadoun from Iraq defended his doctoral dissertation under the guidance of Dr. Abdul Qayum Qayum and Dr. Asadullah Habib and Afaf Al-Zidan from Egypt under the guidance of Professor. Ghulam Safdar Panjsheeri and Professor Homayoun. This is considered a huge honor in the field of higher education in the country. It is gratifying that the Farsi-Dari Department has been one of the most important centers of high-ranking staff with doctoral degrees and academic degrees during its existence at Kabul University. Currently, (11) members of the Dari Department have a doctorate degree (PhD) and two professors, each of Mr. Sedighullah Kalkani and Mariam Barmak, are studying for a doctorate in a friendly country of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In 2018, the second round of the doctoral program began, in which the applicants succeeded in completing 10 stages after passing three stages. The courses of the mentioned program started in 2019 and are still going on.
