Department of Educational Planning and Policy

Planning is essential in the field of education entitled as “Educational Planning and Policy” which is a major requirement in the contemporary society. The complexities of the present scientifically developed and technologically advanced society have given special position to the need for planning in education. Like planning in any field, Educational Planning has to explore the best possible means of making the greatest use of available resources leading to the maximum realization of the educational aims and objectives, both individual and social. Educational planning is the activity that allows the public authorities to orient educational development and identify priority interventions.

Educational Planning and Policy Department is educating committed, efficient and effective individuals at different levels of educational systems such as the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education and both governmental and non-governmental organizations. Through proper planning in education, education can be the best means by which society will preserve and develop its future value system, way of life of an individual, knowledge, skills and applications, and culture of the country.

This department was established in 1394 as an essential need for bringing up planners and policy makers in the field of education and was approved in the framework of Psychology and Educational Sciences Faculty of Kabul University.

To train educational planners and policy experts in the country and the region.

Mission

To provide standard educational services and appropriate educational opportunities, conducting credible and applied research and to train specialized cadres formulating long-term and strategic plans for the society.

Educational Objectives

The Educational Planning and Policy department is an interdisciplinary field in higher education. Its purpose is to train specialized and committed planners and policy makers for various organizations, especially educational organizations. In addition, acquainting individuals with the use of scientific methods in the working field or educational institutions. So they can formulate strategies and implementing them effectively and efficiently, better utilizing human, financial and informational resources to achieve educational objectives.

In addition to learning theoretical science of planning, students also learn the practical aspects so they can implement the knowledge and skills in the educational organizations.
