Curren Situation
The Faculty of Geoscience at Kabul University is currently operating effectively in the fields of education and research with three active departments: Geography, Geology, and Hydrometeorology. The faculty has an experienced academic staff, and the course subjects in all three departments are delivered regularly, according to standards, and in line with the scientific needs of the country.
In terms of educational and practical facilities, this faculty is equipped with specialized laboratories including a GIS laboratory, a Hydrology laboratory, a Soil Mechanics laboratory, and a Petrology laboratory. It also benefits from an active seismograph station and a meteorological station for students' practical work. These capacities provide the groundwork for practical education and the enhancement of students' professional skills.
Administratively and academically, the Faculty of Geoscience has a structured organization, growing research activities, and active participation of professors and students in scientific research related to mining, geology, geography, and climate change. This status has made the faculty one of the important scientific institutions within Kabul University and at the national level.
