Introduction to the field of painting

The painting program, as one of the main branches of visual arts, deals with creating works of painting, designing and expressing aesthetic concepts. In the Afghan society, in addition to the artistic aspects, this program is linked to the preservation of Islamic and cultural values. Painting in Afghanistan is a combination of traditional styles (such as miniatures, calligraphy and paintings made in historical monuments) in which religious, cultural, historical and social concepts are reflected.

Introducing the Bachelor of Painting Program

The painting program with a long history as the first program of the Faculty of Fine Arts has done valuable services in the field of education and development of art and painting artists in Afghanistan; As at present, many master and well-known painters are working in all corners of the world, they are among the graduates of this program. This program is dedicated to Afghan master painters who have relied on their religious, national, cultural and historical values ​​and has been at the service of our dear people and society since the beginning of its activity.

General objectives

Providing quality educational services according to the needs of the community, creating and developing facilities and facilities for conducting credible and applied scientific research, creating and developing new technologies, having specialized and professional staff, reviewing and incorporating the standard curriculum, and educating a new generation adorned with Islamic and national values.

Providing quality painting education services and creating suitable conditions for the development of this art based on the scientific and artistic principles of the university, along with efforts to grow and advance the art of painting in Afghanistan, is the main vision of the Painting Department.

Mission

Through this program, we strive to improve the level of education and learning of our students by utilizing the latest scientific and research findings and the application of new technologies, and to provide society with a professional, committed, and religious force.

Summary of the Periodic Review Outcome

The Department of Painting underwent a periodic review in the year 2024. Based on the remarks and recommendations of the esteemed review committee, the necessary structural and content-related revisions were implemented. Subsequently, according to official letter no. (411) dated 23/10/1403 issued by the Directorate of Quality Enhancement of Kabul University, the continuation of the department’s activities (the Academic Program of Painting) was recommended.
