Department of Philosophy and Sociology

Visions

 Transfer the knowledge to the students as young and professional cadres in the field of Philosophy and Sociology for better understanding of philosophic ideas of Afghanistan and regions. In another hand, the subject leads the students to be familiar with society’s structures and dominations, social matters and the way of solution to recognize social problems.

 Missions

The Department is looking to state as one of academic center for Philosophic and social matters of Afghan society, in national level. Meanwhile, education curriculum is looking to increase the education capacity buildings of staff (Lecturers/Students) in order to get deep understanding about the communities and societies to contribute in society’s developments. Thus, the Department following missions is:

  • Expand of specific knowledge about Philosophy and Sociology;
  • Conduct research for providing updated teaching materials;
  • Conduct research for social matters solutions;
  • Rooting social problems in terms of sociology point of views and solutions way;
  • Equip students with modern research methodology for conducting new research projects. 

The Department Goals

  • Provide a valued teaching programs for students;
  • Provide updated teaching materials according the curriculum;
  • Conducting research to make the curriculum updated and meet the student’s needs;
  • Conduct Seminars/Workshops about capacity building of instructors/students;
  • Publishing the scientific articles in the field of sociology and philosophy;
  • Efforts to establish new academic partnerships with other institutions and build up connections with stakeholders.

The three-day workshop for the students of the Department of Theater of the Faculty of Fine Arts was concluded by the guest professor (Dr. Edmund Chow) from Singapore.

A well-equipped computer laboratory has been built for the English Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature of Kabul University, where professors conduct their scientific research and students use it in different parts.
