Department of Animal Production and Management
The Department of Animal Production and Management provides both basic and specialized courses, including dairy and beef cattle production and management, poultry production and management, sheep and goat production and management, camel and horse management, animal genetics and breeding, animal nutrition, fish and honeybee production and management, as well as fish and honeybee diseases. Through these disciplines, the department trains specialized professionals in the field of veterinary sciences. This teaching and research-oriented department, supported by experienced academic staff holding PhD and Master’s degrees and advanced laboratories, plays a central role in strengthening the livestock sector through the implementation of applied projects such as the design of small- and medium-scale farms, the establishment of feed production centers, and programs for the improvement of indigenous breeds. The department’s activities include collaboration with national and international institutions in areas such as rural entrepreneurship, improvement of household livelihoods, poverty reduction, and marketing of animal products, leading to increased income for livestock farmers.
Members of this department, by applying modern research methodologies and organizing training courses, are well prepared to provide consultancy services, implement research projects, and transfer technical knowledge to public and private sectors in order to achieve self-sufficiency in animal product production.
