Department of Academic Journals
The Department of Academic Journals at Kabul University is a key unit within the university’s academic and research structure, playing a vital role in advancing scholarly communication and the dissemination of knowledge across diverse disciplines. Operating under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Research, the department is responsible for the management, coordination, publication, and quality assurance of Kabul University’s academic journals.
The department’s core mandate is to strengthen research capacity and enhance the quality and visibility of scholarly publications. It supports faculty members and researchers in publishing their work in accordance with established academic standards and best practices. Through the development and enforcement of editorial policies, peer review systems, and ethical guidelines, the department ensures the integrity, rigor, and credibility of all published research.
Kabul University Journals
At present, five international academic journals operate under the Department of Academic Journals. These journals are published on a regular quarterly basis:
1. Journal of Islamic Studies
The Journal of Islamic Studies was established in 2025 and is published as a scientific-specialized journal under the supervision of the Office of Vice Chancellor for Academic Research at Kabul University by the Department of Academic Journals. The aim of this journal is to provide a standard platform for publishing new research findings in various fields of Islamic and Sharia sciences, to promote a culture of research, and to strengthen scholarly exchange among national and international researchers. The journal publishes articles in Arabic language. To ensure accuracy, authenticity, and scientific quality, it uses a double-blind peer review model. The articles published in the journal are accessible to everyone and are provided free of charge under the Open Access model. The journal has obtained an ISSN number (e-3078-6355) and a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) from Crossref. The Kabul University Journal of Islamic Studies is published quarterly.

The Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities was established in 2024 and is published as a specialized academic journal by the Department of Academic Journals under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor’s Office of Academic Research at Kabul University.
