Clinic Department
The Clinic Department is one of the most important and key departments of the Faculty of Veterinary Science. Upon completion of clinical subjects, students approach graduation and professional practice. This department provides theoretical and practical instruction in core subjects such as Pharmacology, Toxicology, Clinical Diagnosis, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Theriogenology. The department is equipped with a well-established teaching clinic for students’ practical training and provides daily veterinary health services to the public. In addition, students receive diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic guidance under the supervision of academic staff. Clinic subjects equip students with competencies in diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and health management. Students practically apply their acquired knowledge in the clinic and further strengthen their professional skills to use them effectively and safely in treating and managing sick animals. The department has strong clinical scientific capacity and provides consultation, assistance, and support to various sectors according to their needs. It also strives to deliver veterinary health services to the livestock community of the country. Private entrepreneurs benefit from clinical and health services provided to poultry farms, dairy farms, sheep and goat farms, and other livestock enterprises.
The department cooperates with the National Environmental Protection Agency. Furthermore, enhancing professional and scientific capacity through periodic refresher programs is another approach to institutionalizing professional services. This is achieved through short-term refresher training courses, practical and research-based workshops, scientific seminars, and conferences organized by the department. The department has a teaching hospital and generates capital and revenue through the provision of services, which contributes to strengthening national income and achieving self-sufficiency. Likewise, students enhance their scientific knowledge and professional skills through practical activities and internships. This department earns substantial revenue from the services it provides to the community and transfers this income regularly to the state treasury each year. The department is staffed with academic members holding PhD and Master’s degrees, a Head of the Teaching Clinic, and one laboratory technician. It has competent and professionally experienced academic staff with strong clinical skills who serve the community on a daily basis. With the facilities available, the department is well positioned to implement scientific and applied research opportunities for both public and private sectors.
