World Mental Health Day was celebrated at Kabul University

Since October 10, World Mental Health Day is equal to 19 Mezan 1399; this day has been celebrated at Kabul University.

The event, which was held on Sunday; 11th of Oct 2020 by the officials of Kabul University Counseling and Psychotherapy in the central hall of the Social Science Faculty. In this program; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Osman Babury, the Chancellor of Kabul University, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, professors, officials and Professors from the Counseling and Psychotherapy Center of Kabul University were accompanied by a number of students and the media.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Osman Babury Chancellor of Kabul University, Professor Sattarudin Siddiqi Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Associated Professor Mariam Ahmadi, Deputy of the Department of Psychological Counseling; Professor Zabihullah Sediqi Head of Psychology Department and Porfessor Nematullah Shadab Psychologist and in charge person of Psychological Counseling Mental Health center of Kabul University during their speeches; welcomed the participants and each of them expressed their honor for organization of this event;  on issues such as; the rate of suffering of Afghan citizens to mental disorders and ways of treatment, the effects of mental health, the importance and necessity of psychological counseling center at Kabul University and other universities. The country and the promotion of this center, the effects of the outbreak of Covid-19 virus on the mental health of the community, the functions, roles and duties of the counseling and psychotherapy center of Kabul University and ………..., they emphasized on further strengthening of this center.

New statistics show that the mental health situation around the world, especially in Afghanistan, is deteriorating. Problems and increase of mental disorders in recent years in the country have attracted the attention of the health sector and efforts have been made to reduce it. Provided counseling and psychotherapy services for students, holding seminars and workshops to inform and enhance students' capacity related to psychological issues and phenomena, skills training for students of the Faculty of Psychology, providing individual counseling, group counseling, reading programs, and other programs are provided.

The program, which started at 10:00 AM, ended at 12:00 PM with prayers for the prosperity of the country.
