About the faculty
The core of professional journalism department established at the framework of Literature School of Kabul University in 1962 for first time in the country and later it was shifted to the school of Social and Humanities in 1979 as a department. In 1986, it promoted to Journalism School with to separate departments (Radio & Television and Print).
Upgrading the curriculum in 2013 through a national curriculum framework for the country where Kabul, Herat, Balkh, Nangahar and Khost-Shiaikzayed Universities gathered with a number of select U.S. based universities including, Nebraska Omaha, Arizona, Ball State, and San Jose State. In this curriculum revision initiative, the departments of radio and TV and print were integrated into one department called “Journalism” and a new department was established under Public Relations. Later, in 2018 third department was established on Communication Studies. All these three departments are offering courses.
