The Faculty of Agriculture’s Research and Experimental Garden was Established and Inaugurated by the Turkish Cooperation Office in Afghanistan (TIKA) at Kabul University

Kabul University Faculty of Agriculture’s Research and Experimental Garden, which was built on the campus of Kabul University with the financial and technical cooperation of the Turkish Cooperation Office in Afghanistan (TIKA) for the purpose of "agricultural cooperation, establishment of research and experimental gardens and training programs at this university". It was inaugurated and put into operation on Tuesday, Sep 1st 2020, by the presence of the Executive Director of the (TIKA) Office Mr. Zahto Chal, The Excellency Professor Dr. M. Osman Babury the Chancellor of Kabul University; KU vice chancellors; Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and a number of professors.

The Excellency Professor Dr. M. Osman Babury the Chancellor of Kabul University; during a speech on this occasion, first welcomed the presence of Mr. Zahto Chal, Director of the Turkish Cooperation Office in Afghanistan, and other attendees at the launch of the garden. He thanked the establishment of this garden and appreciated the historical friendship between Afghanistan and Turkey for about a century and the country's various cooperation with various sectors, especially the scientific and academic sectors in Afghanistan. Mr. Babury called Turkey one of the friendly countries of Afghanistan and instructed the officials of Kabul University, especially the Dean and officials of the Faculty of Agriculture, to use and support this garden and do not hesitate any effort in the field of sustainability, continuity and improvement of services and its maintenance.

Mr. Zahto Chal, Director of the Turkish Cooperation Office in Afghanistan (TIKA), while expressing his pleasure with the successful completion of this garden construction, called Afghanistan a historical friend of Turkey, saying that Turkey protects the historical commonalities and cooperation that Afghanistan has. And Turkey has so far implemented about 1,300 large and small public benefit projects in this country, of which the construction of this research garden is one of the examples. He added that from the beginning until now, "health" and "education" have been the priority projects of (TIKA) office in Afghanistan and the project of building a research-educational garden in which about 1500 fruitful seedlings have been planted for practical and research courses of the Faculty of Agriculture. One of the projects of this office is to strengthen of education and research in Afghanistan and expressed hope that in the future it will be used optimally and the generation of these orchards, which include several species of cherry, plum and peach trees, will be planted throughout Afghanistan.

The Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) has been working in various fields for many years, including "health" and "education", and now has a research-educational garden of about two hectares. The land has been built in connection with the Faculty of Agriculture and is also considered as educational cooperation of this institution
