New Dormitories of Kabul University are lunched
In a meeting on the occasion of Vocational Education and Higher Education Week on Thursday, 27th of May 2021, by the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the governing board of the Ministry of Higher Education, the governing board of the Ministry of Education and the Independent Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and a number of professors was held in the Presidential Palace of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; The new dormitories of Kabul University and a number of higher education projects that were ready for operation were inaugurated by Kabul University officials and provincial institutions who were connected via video conference.
President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani while peaking at the meeting, referred to the positive changes in the situation of higher education in the country compared to the past seven years. Dr. Ghani added that; "in higher education, there have been positive changes in the curriculum, infrastructure and other areas, which prepares us to take bigger steps. Dr. Ghani said that today, every member of education and higher education as a citizen must fulfill their responsibilities and duties towards the country.
Hence; Amrullah Saleh, the first Vice President of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, also spoke at the meeting about improving the quality of the higher education system and launching dialogues in the country's higher education to better recognize and introduce the values of patriotism by students and strengthen patriotism and motivate them.
Then; Dr. Abbas Basir, Minister of Higher Education, while appreciating the comprehensive support of President Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for the development of the country's education system, spoke about Afghanistan's programs, work priorities and needs in the field of higher education.
Dr. Basir added that the Ministry of Higher Education has a series of programs in place this year to improve the quality of education in higher education institutions and move the education system towards student-centered and research-oriented, in which the governing board of the ministry for fundamental change.
The Minister of Higher Education further said that one of the most important programs in today’s meeting is the unveiling of 65 scholarships in different fields, which have been revised and developed according to the needs of the society, taking into account the global standards. And up to end of this year 90 curriculums should be reviewed and unveiled.
He also provided information on other programs and priorities of the department, including holding joint master's programs, evaluation of private higher education institutions, design of student services, e-government and other programs, and called on the government leadership to support the implementation of these programs. Cooperate and support teachers in increasing budgets and creating residential settlements.
A short film about the achievements, programs and projects of the Ministry of Higher Education was also screened at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, under the supervision of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, a number of projects that were ready for operation were inaugurated by provincial officials who were connected via video conference at the meeting.
