New Building of the Faculty of Policy and Public Administration and Mathematics has been Commissioned and Launched
The new building of Kabul University's Faculty of Policy and Public Administration and Mathematics, which was previously commissioned, took place on Tuesday, 2nd of March 2012, by the participation of the Minister of Higher Education, Deputy Minister of Finance and Administration, and the Directors of the ministry's central office, Chancellor and Vice-Chancellors of Kabul University; the Deans of the faculties, a number of professors and students of Kabul University. This building was officially inaugurated during a ceremony and practically became ready to be used by the students of these two faculties.
Dr. Abbas Basir Minister of Higher Education, while delivering his speech expressed his satisfaction with the construction of this building, considered it an action in line with the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education for the development of academic and scientific research centers. The need for a serious change in the country's higher education sector is now understood and plans have been made to achieve this change. With the decision of the Governing Board of Kabul University and the Ministry of Higher Education, as well as with the interest expressed by the President of the country, work is in progress to change Kabul University and other academic centers from pure institutions to research, production and scientific and academic texts centers; while changing the approach of the higher education sector of the country, research in a standard environment as a principle in this field should be realized and through this, change in the country should be determined. Mr. Basir expressed support of the Ministry of Higher Education in supporting any initiatives aimed at changing academic institutions and recently congratulated the opening of this new building at Kabul University.
Then, Prof. Dr. M. Osman Babury Chancellor of Kabul University, while speaking at the event expressed his satisfaction with the completion of its constructive work and welcoming the participants of the program, congratulated the launch of this building; he highlighted on the construction project of this building, costs, facilities, equipment and the next requirements of this building were discussed. Dr. Babury asked the Governing Board of the Ministry of Higher Education to cooperate with Kabul University in equipping the country's research and development centers, especially in developing the research sector and equipping more and better classrooms.
The building was built at a cost of about 132 million Afghanis from the budget of the Ministry of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Urban Development and Land on a land area of 1900 square meters and has 36 standard classrooms, 2 conference halls, 2 libraries and a number of administrative offices. The Faculty of Politics and Public Administration, with about 650 students, previously used the same building with the Faculty of Law, Political Science, Psychology, and Educational Sciences, and the Faculty of Mathematics, with about 500 students, previously with the Faculty of Physics and Biology. They were independent and now with the construction of this building, the problems for these two faculties have been eliminated and the dear students will learn their courses in standard classes after this.
