Memorandum of Understanding is signed between the Faculty of Pharmacy of KU and the Export Development Department of Raisins, Fruits, Vegetables and Medicinal Plants of Afghanistan

Memorandum of Understanding between the Faculty of Pharmacy of Kabul University and the Export Development Department of Raisins, Fruits, Vegetables and Medicinal Plants of Afghanistan on Monday, 1st Feb 2021 is signed with the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Osman Babury Chancellor of Kabul University, Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Mr. Sayeed Azim Mustafa Hashimi Director of Afghanistan Raisin and Medicinal Plant Export Development Office and his accompanying delegation with the aim of enhancing the scientific and professional capacity of Export Office staff in the analysis of raisins, fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants, providing training for specialized and professional staff, creating internships program for students of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Kabul University.
The main objectives of this memorandum are education and training of mutual professionals in different parts of the laboratory for the purpose of stabilizing poisonous diseases and toxins in raisins and other fruits, food and medicine; Holding joint scientific conferences and seminars in connection with the analysis of natural products, providing internships for students for the purpose of laboratory training, cooperation in preparing specialized and practical monographs by the Export Office for students of the Faculty of Pharmacy and other related issues.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Osman Babury Chancellor of Kabul University, while speaking at the event, welcomed the officials of the Export Development Department; talked about the lack of opportunities for the auction and exchange of the country's natural products in international markets; and called it a challenge that the country is facing in natural materials exports, adding that providing these opportunities requires serious work and serious efforts by officials in the relevant sectors. Dr. Babury said: "Collaboration and cooperation between related institutions in order to develop this important issue will create both power and dual ability, and I hope that through this cooperation we will be able to further serve the people of the country."
Then, Mr. Kazemi, the director of the Export Development Department, while speaking expressed his satisfaction with the provision of the field and establishing a cooperative relationship between the two institutions. He spoke about the past, backgrounds, effective functions and efforts of this department; he added that there is the Export Development Department and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Kabul University, but through this memorandum, these relations would be further strengthened, and its expansion will undoubtedly improve the affairs.
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Kabul University has 6 departments, 38 trained and specialized staff with PhD and Master's degrees, about 491 students and has 8 active and equipped laboratories, it is an proficient faculty for conducting scientific and specialized research on natural materials, raisins; fruits and vegetables, and the students of this faculty, according to the new curriculum spend one semester of their internship stage at academic hospitals, medicine laboratories, food and biological samples and medicine manufacturing institutes. The Memorandum of Understanding with the Office of Export Development of Raisins and Natural Materials will provide more work and internship opportunities for these students and will deliver a more specialized workforce to the community.
