Meeting of Kabul University Leaders and Students with Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Islamic Cooperation Organization in Afghanistan

Representative of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019 attended Kabul University presidency to discuss and talk about peace and efforts to facilitate this process by the international community and international organizations (OIC) during a formal meeting with the chancellor of the Kabul University, members of the university's scientific council, a number of university presidents, professors, and students met and discussed Afghanistan's peace issues and the role and efforts of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation and Academic Affairs.

Mr. Hussain Owouni Bootzali, Ambassador and Representative of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation in Afghanistan, expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to discuss with Kabul University officials and students the long-standing historical events of Afghanistan, their work in thirty-eight years of diplomatic activities and goals. The role of the institution in Afghanistan has spoken. Mr Bootzali said he intends to represent the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with a focus on Islamic commonalities and highlight the Islamic brotherhood for the parties involved in Afghanistan and launch an effort to facilitate this important and national process. At the end of his speech he considered the agreement and empathy between Afghans to be necessary for peaceful coexistence and peace and emphasized the common religion, the common book and the common prophet among Muslims, especially the parties involved in Afghanistan, as one of the most important solutions for achieving peace. Kabul University thanked and appreciated the organization for providing the first joint meeting with the aim of launching a peace dialogue in this university. He urged officials at the academy to work to facilitate the academic process in the country to facilitate the peace process.

Then, Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs;  welcomed Mr. Bootzali to attend Kabul University and expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to provide peace in Afghanistan. Mr Farooqi said at the meeting that previous peace talks had been held unilaterally, blurring the line between the Afghan political class and the red line that had been raised in the consultative Loya Jirga by around 3500 participants from across the provinces and across the country; and different ethnicities had been set aside. Therefore, he thanked the representative of the organization for emphasizing the role and contribution of the different sides of the Afghan problem and described his remarks and suggestions for his sincerity and compassion. At the meeting, Mr. Farooqi called on the representative of the organization to play a vital role in Afghan peace and other international organizations involved in the construction and launching of the country's peace process, to pay serious attention to the peace process that is vital to Afghans; and the people of this country to cooperate.

A number of other professors and students were presented at the meeting and they also expressed their views and questions about the peace process and the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in this process, and their questions were answered and discussed in detail.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is comprised of 57 Islamic countries that are established to coordinate and facilitate cooperation between these countries. The organization is represented in the aforementioned countries and its office in Afghanistan is now working under Mr Bootzali to facilitate the peace process.
