Announcement of the collaboration of the British Columbia University of Canada with the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Kabul University

According to the acquaintances and contacts that the leadership of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Kabul University by supervision of Prof. Satarudin Seddiqi, the head of that faculty, there was a meeting with Dr. Marvin Winston, a consultant at the University of British Columbia, and the officials of the Afghan Canadian Institute of International Cooperation. They have talked about implementation of the cooperative programs.

The meeting, which was detained on Monday, 25th of May in Serena Hotel at Kabul, the meeting was between the authorities of these institutions, the Kabul University’s vice chancellor of student affairs Dr. Tafsera Hashimi and a number of staff of the University of British Columbia were participated. At the beginning of the meeting, the authorities of the institutions discussed on the advancement of some scientific and research issues, the fight against trauma was also discussed by the Kabul University's Psychology and Educational Sciences Faculty and they agreed upon the necessary arrangements.

Then, Dr. Marvin Winston,, counselor at the University of British Columbia and the head of the Trauma Center of that University, presented their scientific conference titled "Trauma Therapy Group for military soldiers". Participants of the program were mostly academics and students of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of governmental and non-governmental institutions.

At the end of the conference, there was a special meeting with the delegations of the British Columbia College; dean and the head of the department of Psychology and Education of the University of Kabul. There were discussions on some topics related to the conference, and the authorities of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences offered their suggestions with the University of British Columbia authorities. The authorities listened to the opinions and suggestions of the scientific institutions and there were made necessary and essential plan for the advancement and implementation of these decisions.

Suggestions from the Department of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the Kabul University were signed by the two institutions on the Trauma Program, the establishment of the Center for the Transitional Psychology, the establishment of an International Journal of Research in order to accept the articles of professors in international journals. Assistance in publishing and supporting the scientific journal of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, assisting in the establishment of a department of clinical psychology and other cases that were accepted by the authorities of British Columbia and the Trauma Center of that University and hey promised to cooperate.

At the end, the Kabul University logo was handed to Dr. Marvin Winston,, counselor at the University of British Columbia and the head of the Trauma Center of that University, by the Kabul University’s vice chancellor of student affairs Dr. Tafsera Hashimi and Prof. Satarudin Seddiqi, the dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of Kabul University.
