Academic Dialogue on Peace and Conflict Resolution Conducted by Presidency of Kabul University

 

Academic Dialogue on Peace and Conflict Resolution was conducted by presidency of Kabul University and the Directorate General of the Office of the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan at the Kabul University's central auditoria. The two-day conference aimed at identifying and accessing the peaceful hangars through Academic Dialogue on Saturday and Sunday, April 15th  and 16 th 2019. This program was officially held by Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Advisor of Chief Minister in Higher Education Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; and participation of Professor Salamat Azimi Minister of Counter-Narcotics, Mr. Abdul Wahid Qatali, President of the General Directorate for Presidential Affairs, Professor Abdul Tawab Balakarzai Deputy of Ministry of Higher Education in academic affairs, Professor Bari Siddiqi, Deputy Minister of higher Education in students affairs, Dr. Ahmadsiar Mahjour Ministry of Higher Education in finance and administration affairs, Dean of  a number of sectors, Ambassador of Tajikistan in Kabul, vice chancellors of Kabul University, former heads of Kabul University, advisors and members of the High Council of Peace, heads and deputies of all universities in the provinces, heads of faculties, researchers of the Academy of Sciences, scientists, professors, staff and students of Kabul University.

Honorable Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Advisor of Chief Minister in Higher Education Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; welcomed the participants of this academic and cultural gathering, highlighting the sections of the activities carried out at Kabul University during last years, he mentioned this academic institution is proud to have besides its rows of basic academic duties and responsibilities - researching national issues and activities with the cooperation of other institutions and playing its national and academic role in relation to its people and its country.

According to Farooqi, Kabul University, as the largest academic institution in the country believes that in a warm and sincere atmosphere, the participation of scholars and intellectuals can be seen as opportunities and chances for joint pain and suffering in the fields of the end of the war. And bringing lasting peace and security to an academic and valuable discourse; that pave the way for the organization of academic and native programs and practices in the light of the findings and scientific research of these centers of thought and supposed for practitioners and policy-makers in the country.

Mr. Farooqi also mentioned the peace talks are now the hopes for a lasting and permanent peace in Afghanistan that have increased more than ever, the people of our country face a decisive decision, and the role of intellectuals, scholars, intellectuals and politicians in these areas are constructive, effective, and historic.

Nevertheless, Mr. Farooqi mentioned the culture of peace and peaceful coexistence in order to bring peace to the community and highlighted the culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes, behaviors and ways of life that called violence negation, conflict prevention, and the attempt to identify the roots of conflict and solve it through dialogue and discourse between individuals, groups and nations. In addition, the term "culture of peace" means respect for human dignity, respect for human rights, adherence to the legitimate liberty of human beings, the prevention of hatred, violence, war and resolution of conflicts through non-violence based methods such as reconciliation, negotiation, mediation and Compromise.

Mr. Farooqi called for good governance with the characteristics of participation, equality, accountability, rule of law, efficiency and transparency, and said that without good governance, we cannot expect to achieve permanent peace in a country, and we must know that without providing prosperity and social well-being in the country, peace cannot be provided for a long time there.

He referred to the Kabul University's attitude toward holding this conference and its scientific meeting and its impact on creating a platform for the integration of academic and academic attitudes and sharing it with politicians and practitioners in the area of ​​reconciliation and discourse. They recognized it as their national and scientific responsibility. In the end, the chancellor of the Kabul University thanked and praised the co-operation of the Presidential Administration, the Presidency of the High Peace Council, the civil society organizations, the heads and deputies of the Kabul universities for their efforts. The dean of faculties, chairman and members of the cultural council, chairman and members of the Students' Union, university security officials, professors and staff of Kabul University.

Then, the message of the Honorable President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani) was read by Pohand, Dr. Lail Padshah, a Senior Advisor to the President. In his message, peace is mentioned as one of the serious needs of the nation and society, and in providing lasting peace in the country has been emphasized. Also, in a message from the head of the Kabul University and other co-organizing institutions dedicated to the holding of this scientific conference, he called for more research and investigation by scholars, scientists and presenters in the discourse.

Simultaneously, Pohand. Mrs. Salamat Azimi the Minister of Counter Narcotics, Mr. Mohammad Esmaeel Ghasemyar, member of the High Peace Council, Mr. Abdul Tawab Balakarzay and academic affairs deputy and chairman of the Ministry of Higher Education, Mr. Sayed Abdul Wahid Qatali, General Director of the Office of the President, Professor Ahmad Sear Mahjur Moin Finance and Administration affairs deputy of the Ministry of Higher Education; and Kabul University Professor; Mohammad Osman Tareq Advisor to the Director of the Darlaneh Shahr High Peace Council, Dear Lady Yalda Royan, Women's Rights Activist, and Ahmed Javed Faroos, President of the Kabul University Students' Union also talked about peace, advantage and its dimensions; they called peace as one of the serious needs of our country. While they recognized peace as one of the factors of the development and development of the country, they thanked the head of the Kabul University for organizing this scientific-cultural dialogue, which is the main gateway to the establishment of lasting peace in the country.

In the second part of the program, in the afternoon of the first day; professors and scholars submit their research papers on topics such as "Culture of Peace"; "The Role of Educational Institutions in Peace"; "The Role of Education in Afghan Peace"; "Strategy Dialogue for Peace "; " Peace for Islam"; " The Importance of Peace in the Country"; "The Role of Afghan Women in the Peace Process"; and  "Components of Resolving Disputes and Consolidating Peace in Afghanistan, with Sustainable Peace of Immanuel Kant's " under the supervision of the Jury members. Jury’s delegation shared the overall results of presenting the articles with the participants of the program and evaluated the issues related to the articles effectively.

It is important to be noted that on the first day of the program (opening of the program), for the speakers of the circle, a logo of the university was contributed by Kabul University as a sign of peace, and on the second day, consisting of seven panels, in the faculties of Social Sciences and Fine Arts was organized on various topics and links of peace, which was discussed at the end of the sessions and shared with interested people from the sites of Kabul University and the Nation.
