Meeting of Prof. Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs with the UNHCR Senior Legal Assistant Legal Officer

 

Prof.  Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs, met Mr. Jeefry Swak, UNHCR Senior Legal Officer, on Sunday 30th December in his office. Kabul University Chancellor welcomed the Senior Legal Officer of the UNHCR and his colleagues at his office, who provided them with extensive information on the activities and plans of the university's development.

However, Mr. Jeefry Swak , the Senior Legal Officer of the UNHCR, expressed his satisfaction at attending Kabul University, and promised assistance and cooperation with Kabul University while talking about the UNHCR program.  He added that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Afghanistan is prepared to provide undergraduate and graduate day and night shift students at Kabul University who have entered the university through an examination, and that their families are migrating to countries outside of Afghanistan, or have returned, have all-round cooperation and financial assistance.

Prof.  Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs welcomed the cooperation of the Department of Education with those students who, due to the problems of immigration and the recurrence of economic problems and other challenges, welcomed the previous contributions of the " UNHCR "expressed gratitude to the Afghan refugees and returnees in Afghanistan and to the program that they are considering for the students of Kabul University. Of course, this program at the level of the universities and educational institutions of Afghanistan is the first of its kind to limit the pressures of refugees and returnees in the country.

Prof. Dr. Tafseera Hashemi, Vice Chancellor of Kabul University Students’ Affairs and several staff members of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Afghanistan (UNHCR) were participated the meeting.

In order to implement this program and to ensure transparency and fairness in the process, UNHCR and the Students Affairs Department of Kabul University, in order to formulate a comprehensive memorandum and to consolidate eligible college students, are expected to rely on the rules of the law, both institutions are providing the agreement for signing it as soon as possible.
