Conducting the Competition "Chinese Language Communication Bridge" at Kabul University

The final round of the 17th Chinese Language Communication Bridge for students from Kabul University and students from Marefat High School was held on Tuesday 8th May 2018 on the occasion of the meeting with Prof.  Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs, Liujeng Sing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Afghanistan, Honorable Prof. Tafseera Hashemi, Head of Student Affairs Department at Kabul University, Head of Student Affairs Department of the Ministry of Higher Education, Head of the Faculty of Languages ​​and Literature at Kabul University, and a number of lecturers and competitive students, in Chinese Language Department.

The purpose of the launch of these competitions was to showcase the talents and abilities of the youth of Afghanistan and their familiarity with the culture of the Chinese people.

Firstly, Prof. Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs, welcomed the presence and approval of the Ambassador of China to Afghanistan, and welcomed the participants, launching such competitive programs to highlight and identify the hidden, valuable talents. He expressed his gratitude to the Confucius Institute and the Department of Chinese Language Faculty of Languages and Literature for its launch. Mr. Farooqi also reminded Afghanistan and China's relations and friendship, and called the two countries "long-term friends."

Kabul University Chancellor added that Kabul University is committed to taking solid and determined steps to bring scientific, artistic and cultural ties with the friend country of China, and the country has always supported the government of Afghanistan, especially Kabul University, in the field of academic works, construction of projects and equipping it with all-inclusive cooperation. He expressed his gratitude and thanks for the cooperation of the Chinese government and the embassy in Afghanistan, calling for the expansion of its relations with Kabul University.

Honorable Liujeng Sing, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Afghanistan, expressed his satisfaction with his presence at Kabul University, and he added that languages are tool of recognition and understanding, through which we can communicate and learn cultures. The ambassador of China has praised the launch of these competitive competitions among students, urging all students and competitors to work diligently to achieve more success. Mr. Liujeng Sing, who described good relations between the two countries of Afghanistan and China throughout history, described Afghanistan as a strong and rich country.

The contest was set up in three sections (lecture, question and answer, and art show) between students. As a result of this competition and announcing the results of the referees of the tournament round, one of the students from the Chinese Department of Languages ​​and Literature Faculty at Kabul University and one of the students of the Faculty of Arts received the first position, and the rest of the students received second and third positions among them. They received their awards and accolades from the authorities of Kabul University and Chinese authorities.

The Chinese Language Communication Bridge is an international competition planned by the Central Institute of Confucius and this annual competition is being set up at the Confucius Institute of Kabul University and other countries of the world.

It is worth mentioning that before the start of this tournament, honorable Liujeng Sing, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Afghanistan, and  honorable Prof. Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs met in the Kabul University Chancellor Office and reminded good relationships between the two countries of Afghanistan and China and have highlighted the needs for closer relationships between the two countries. Kabul University Chancellor also thanked the Chinese Government and its embassy in Afghanistan, calling for their further assistance for Kabul University. And the Ambassador of China to Afghanistan, said that Kabul University is also recognized as one of the most prestigious institutions in Afghanistan, and they are ready to contribute more to the University's value and scientific programs.

Then in this opportunity, Kabul University Chancellor and the Ambassador of China to Afghanistan visited the classrooms, equipment and supplies from the Chinese Department which are recently sponsored by the friend country China to the Chinese Department of Languages and Literature Faculty.
