The Library of the Law and Political Science Faculty of Kabul University was named to the National Character, Mohammad Mossa Shafiq Name

Naming the Library of the Law and Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Kabul, in the name of Shahid Mohammad Mossa Shafiq, former Prime Minister of Afghanistan, in accordance with the resolution issued at the International Conference on the Remembrance of the Personality and Workers of the Deceased, held in the Foreign Ministry on 11th March, 2017, the Law and Political Sciences Faculty of the Kabul University has also seen the resolution mentioned, making the Library of the Faculty known by the name of deceased Mohammad Mossa Shafiq.

The library was named to Mohammad Mossa Shafiq, former Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Foreign Minister and Kabul University Professor, on Sunday 6th May by Prof.  Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs, with the presence of the President of the Faculty of Law and Political Science, some of the heads of faculties, professors of the Law and Political Science Faculty and a number of university professors at the provincial level.

Kabul University Chancellor has spoken about Mohammad Mossa Shafiq, the former Prime Minister of Afghanistan's Decade of Democracy, who proved him as one of the true servants of the country, who has taken pride in his services at various agencies throughout his country.

Mr. Farooqi added that Mr. Shafiq, as one of the true servants of the country, consolidated his position and, in recognition of this, the scientific center, the large library of the Law and Political Science Faculty, called to the name of the deceased Mohammad Mossa Shafiq. Mr. Abdul Eqrar Wassel, Head of the Law and Political Science Faculty, also welcomed the presence and openinng ceremony of all, naming the library's name in the name of Shahid Mohammad Mossa, former Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Foreign Minister and Kabul University Professor.

At the International Seminar, that was launched to admire the Honor Former Prime Minister of Republic of Afghanistan, Shahid Mohammad Mossa Shafiq at the State Department's headquarters in 2017, besides, discussing political, cultural, and scholarly personalities around the various dimensions of the political, scientific and cultural character of Martyr Mohammad Mussa Shafiq , they issued a resolution calling for the naming of the library of the Law and Political Sciences Faculty at Kabul University to his name.

Mohammad Mossa Shafiq was a poet, journalist and author of Afghanistan and the former Prime Minister of the decade of democracy during the reign of His Majesty Mohammad Zaher Shah. He was born in Kabul in 26th May 1929. He succeeded in securing secondary education at the School of Religious Sciences and completed his higher education in Islamic law at the University of Al-Azhar, Egypt, and received a bachelor's degree. Then, at the same university got his master’s degree and graduated from the Department of Judicial Sciences and after that he got another master’s degree in the field of Interdepartmental Rights from Columbia University in New York. He also received certificates from Harvard University of the United State of America.

After graduating from the University of Al-Azhar, Egypt, returned to Afghanistan and he taught the law of private law at Kabul University Law and Politics Faculty. Later he worked in many other positions such as; the General Director of Law, the Chairman of the Ministry of Justice, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister of Afghanistan. He was assassinated after persecution in 1st May 1978.

Meanwhile, Honorable Prof.  Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Senior Minister Adviser of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Higher Education Affairs, on the closing day of the two-day workshop on the drafting of criminal law books by Greenwich Advisory and Support Services, and the technical assistance of the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Kabul University in that faculty, was also present and distributed the certificates  to the participants of the workshop, consisting of heads and professors of  Law and Political Sciences Faculties of Universities in the Provinces. In this program, Mr. Farooqi thanked all the officials and supporters of the program and thanked all participants for the workshop, asking them to launch such programs at other universities as well.
