"No, on harassment of women - immunity is the right of every woman" Campaign at Kabul University

A number of women and girls in the country from the address "No, Violence and harassment of the Women" campaign in coordination with the chancellor of the Kabul University have organized a campaign titled “No, on harassment of women - immunity is the right of every woman" on Saturday, 14th of April 2018 at Kabul University.

The purpose of this campaign aimed to reduce the level of violence or eliminate violence against women in the country, which was sponsored by the No-Women Abuse and Kabul University campaign with wall murals and slogans on the issue of the prohibition of violence against women in the walls of the Kabul University has been started.

First, Nasrin, a member of the "No, on the persecution of women" campaign, thanked chancellor of the Kabul University, she has discussed the reasons behind the launch of the program, and provided details about its activities.

Then, Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Advisor of Chief Minister in Higher Education Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, spoke about the issue, thanked all the people involved in the program. The chancellor of the Kabul University said that such plans are effective in promoting the issue of combating violence against women, condemning women's harassment as an unwholesome culture, which has been fueled by the wars and drawbacks of the country, which is against our religious, human and academic values.

Prof. Farooqi also spoke about government’s efforts and the implementation of the Law on the Elimination of Violence against Women as a means to consolidate the rule of law, and has assumed responsibility for the University to work on combating violence against women and launching programs. Prof. Farooqi added, that Kabul University has always tried to partner with the people of the community and the children of the country through programs to reduce or stop violence.

According to Prof. Farooqi, so far, several programs have been co-sponsored by the partner institutions on the prohibition of violence against women, and for the first time, the MA graduates of Gender program of the Social Sciences Faculty at Kabul University presented such program to the community. Besides, Prof. Farooqi answered the questions of the journalists.

Later, the chancellor of the Kabul University, along with a number of professors, colleagues from the ‘’No, Violence Against Women’’ organ, and students at the university, observed slogans and messages of the wall related to the prohibition of violence against women.

It is worth to be noted that the campaign "No, violence against women is a right to every woman's right" has started since March 8, 2018. And the campaign of "No, against violence against women" has begun on wall mural and social pages, and simultaneously in the provinces of Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif has continued. However, the Kabul University directorate has also launched a number of programs on the prohibition of violence against women in collaboration with various institutions at the university.
