Three-day Academic and Research Conference titled "Environmental Discourses" was held at the Faculty of Engineering, Kabul University

In this conference Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Advisor of Minister in Higher Education Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan government, Sayeed Saadat Mansoor Naderi Minister of Urbanization and Housing, Abdul Wali Mudaqiq Deputy Minister of Administration Policy for National Environmental Protection, M. Yusif Pashtoon Adviser of President in City Consultation, Dr. Basheer Ahmad Muhsen  Head of the Research Center in Urban Capacity Building, Dr. Wakil Ahmad Sarhadi Dean of Faculty of Agriculture in Kabul University, Dr. Noor Ahmad Akhunzada Head of the Faculty of Environment, Members of Ministries of Rural Development, Urbanization and Housing, Kabul Municipality, Professors, Students, and Employees from different sections were attended on 26th of July in Engineering Faculty of Kabul University. 

At the beginning, the conference contents introduced by Dr. Basheer Ahmad Muhsen  Head of the Research Center in Urban Capacity Building. He said that “the research center is trying to collect opinions from specialists and experts through the launch of discourses and seminars, and after analyzing the ideas of the solutions to the issues it would be implicated in urban sectors".

Sayeed Saadat Mansoor Naderi Minister of Urbanization and Housing thanked all the departments, institutions and individuals who participated in this dialogue. He indicated, that "the environment is the greatest blessing of God, and human’s life is depended with environment".

Abdul Wali Mudaqiq Deputy Minister of Administration policy for National Environmental Protection, who was one of the participants in the program, said that the collected waste from all parts of Kabul city is buried by Kabul municipality vehicles in far areas. This threatens to wreck the Kabul underground drinking water. The practitioner also added that Kabul Municipality should work on capacity building and waste management to maintain a proper level of waste disposal in order to prevent the collapse of underground water from the cable.

Professor Hamidullah Farooqi Chancellor of Kabul University and Advisor of Minister in Higher Education Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan government, noted this discussion as an important issue and said that "Kabul University as an academic institution has the moral, human, Islamic and legal responsibility for environmental maintenance". And support such programs to be delivered in Kabul University. 

This three-day discussion focused on the issues of effect of waste in the environment, effective technologies for waste disposal and the importance of urban green space, including lectures, dialogues that began in the form of a question and inquiry which began on the 30th of July and Ended on 1st of August.
